The CLEP Exam: What Is It?

Over 2,900 educational institutions recognize the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Thirty-four different Clep Exams may be taken to quickly and easily fulfil various prerequisites and general education requirements. Taking a test like the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and gaining college credit might shorten the time it takes several semesters to get a bachelor's degree.

Taking Advantage Of CLEP's Many Benefits

There are two main advantages for students taking CLEP tests. Enrolling in this program to get your degree may save time and money. It also allows them to get credit for what they already know, whether it be through school, work, or other sources.

Spend Less

Spending less on higher education may have many benefits. The total cost of taking a CLEP test is $99. The total cost of the test is still far less than the price of a single college credit.

Should You Take A CLEP Test?

Obtaining 15 CLEP credits may reduce tuition at a typical four-year institution by around $5,000 annually. In 2019-2020, full-time students at a public university paid an average of $10,560 in fees and tuition or $396 per credit. While Clep Exams facilities are not required, they may add administrative fees to the $89 price of each exam.

Each institution determines its policies for CLEP credit acceptance. The credits may count as electives or transfer credits at certain universities. For courses required for your major or prerequisites, universities may need a higher grade than the School Board minimum.
