CLEP - An Overview

CLEP, or College Level Examination Programme, has been widely trusted and is accepted by over 2900 colleges and universities. This extensive program helps students showcase their academic talent in as many as 34 courses offered by the college board. It also lets them earn college credit scores, assisting them to join the college course of their liking.  

CLEP Courses and Curriculum
 
While the college board conducts CLEP, only certified colleges and universities can give credits for a degree. A student will receive similar credit scores for a degree if they qualify for it through CLEP as a regular college student would get who completed a similar degree.  
Most of the CLEP exams work from a one-semester perspective. However, some courses adhere to a one-year or two-year full course curriculum. The faculties of different colleges together ensure the similarities between a CLEP course and a college course.  
Questions in CLEP exams are multi-choice and also have order-based and numerical problems. English exam, however, requires an essay and a listening part.
 
Advantages of CLEP Exams  
 
CLEP exams have several benefits. CLEP students have a higher GPA than non-CLEP students. Students undergoing CLEP are better at their course since it is often integrated compared to non-CLEP students who take an introductory college course.  CLEP courses are cheaper than regular college courses, and the chances of a transfer are higher. First-generation students with a CLEP score of above 50 have higher retention rates than traditional degree holders.
